The Little Things

14 Feb

Well ladies, it’s that time of the year again where we are either filled with love or enraged with hatred at the mere sight of pink or red. Girls with boyfriends get all giddy and plan over the top dates, while the single girls curl up with a self-purchased box of chocolates, a bottle of vodka and a sappy chick flick. Its either a day to remind you of how single you truly are, or a day to show the person you love how much you care.

That’s where Valentines day rubs me the wrong way. Shouldn’t we love and appreciate those people 365 days of the year? Personally, Valentines day is an overrated holiday, and it’s all a bit too mushy gushy, lovey dovey for me. I don’t need a romantic love letter or a giant bouquet of flowers to know that I’m loved. It’s the little things that happen everyday, not just on one day of the year.  Rotting my teeth with candy, indulging in a box of chocolates and feeling no guilt for it is my favorite part of Valentines day.

We celebrated our fourth Valentines day together by eating way too much at the Cheesecake Factory, putting sweats on and watching Breaking Dawn. That’s my ideal date! However you spend your Valentines day, angry or irrevocably happy, drunk with your best friend or a hot date with your boyfriend, remember it’s the little things that matter.
